EUSEW 2023 zooms in on ‘Accelerating the clean energy transition – towards lower bills and greater skills’ and also welcomes the first ever cohort of Young Energy Ambassadors

The European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), the biggest annual event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe, is taking place from 20 - 22 June, gathering high-level speakers such as European Commisioner for Energy Kadri Simson, Solar Impulse Foundation’s Chairman Bertrand Piccard, Director-General of DG Energy Ditte Juul Jørgensen, Sweden's Minister for Energy, Business and Industry Ebba Busch, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Saule Technologies Olga Malinkiewicz, and many more. EUSEW brings together participants to discuss and debate on energy policies and goals such as the Green Deal Industrial PlanREPowerEU Plan and reaching climate-neutrality by 2050. With 2023 announced as the European Year of Skills, thematic areas of the event will additionally focus on skills for the clean energy transition, next to energy efficiency, renewables, affordability and inclusion, and decarbonisation policies and international cooperation.

Meet the Young Energy Ambassadors

The fourth edition of European Youth Energy Day takes on a new format to give young professionals from the field of clean energy and climate change mitigation space to share their visions and co-create energy transition solutions. The 30 EUSEW Young Energy Ambassadors have been selected on the basis of their achievements in climate change mitigation efforts, including through accelerating Europe’s clean energy transition. Join the EUSEW Awards ceremony on 20 June to also discover who will be named the Young Energy Champion in recognition of their achievements. ​

Other highlights of EUSEW 2023 include

  • The EUSEW Policy Conference, during which sessions organised by the European Commission and stakeholders who are contributing to clean, secure and efficient energy debate new policy developments, best practices and sustainable energy ideas. 
  • The EUSEW Awards ceremony, which recognises outstanding individuals and projects in three categories: Innovation, Local Energy Action and Woman in Energy. 
  • A series of networking opportunities for participants to connect with other members of the sustainable energy community, comprising an Energy Fair which gives organisations and associations the opportunity to showcase their initiatives and interact with on-site participants.
  • Locally-organised Sustainable Energy Days are also taking place around the world in the lead-up to the main event week. 

Where: EUSEW 2023 will take place in a hybrid format, with both participants and speakers attending online and onsite in Brussels. Onsite attendance will take place at the European Commission’s Charlemagne building and the nearby Martin’s Brussels EU Hotel, with all sessions being livestreamed through the dedicated online event platform. 

Who: Public authorities, energy agencies, industry associations, businesses, civil society organisations, media, city councils, European institutions, private companies, research organisations, citizen groups, NGOs, SMEs and start-ups, networks of national, regional and local authorities, consumer associations, citizens’ groups, youth associations and other energy stakeholders involved in leading the transition towards renewable energy in Europe are invited to join onsite in Brussels.

The European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is the biggest annual event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe and comprises a series of activities aimed at building a secure and clean energy future for Europe.

It brings together public authorities, private companies, NGOs, EU project partners, researchers and consumers to promote initiatives to go green and digital for Europe's energy transition.

Launched in 2007 by the European Commission, EUSEW is organised by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), in close cooperation with Directorate-General for Energy.
